A member asked:

Is that capsule camera good as colonoscopy?

Not for prime time.: Capsule colonoscopy is not fda approved. It does not seem as accurate as colonoscopy at this time. In one study, 5 cancers were diagnosed with 2 of them missed by capsule colonoscopy. If a polyp is identified by capsule colonoscopy, it still needs to be removed by a regular colonoscopy. You get another prep. There are newer steerable models (with magnets) which may improve accuracy.

No: Capsule endoscopy does not have theme and to do further testing or intervention such as remove polyps, do biopsies if needed, etc
