A member asked:

Does cymbalta (duloxetine) have to build up in your system if your talking it for joint pain or does it work right away?

Not a pain reliever: Cymbalta (duloxetine) is a unique medication for chronic pain. It increases the serotonin and norepinephrine between nerve cells. It does take some time (days-weeks) for this to happen. It doesn't work like other short-acting pain relievers such as ibuprofen.
