Multitude of things: Let me count the ways/things...Chemicals, bacteria, viruses, particulate matter, heat, cold, vapors, etc...
If it is bothering you to the point of worry and consternation, i would suggest that a visit to you family doc is in order....For a good history and physical evaluation...For labs, treatment and/or referral..Don't panic...It's probably something simple and treatable..

what can cause inflammation in the body? i have high tibc but have been tested for everything getting colonoscopy soon to rule that out. healthy 23 female. can chronic stress and or exercise cause inflammation?

: You don't necessarily have inflammation at all. Inflammation can lower TIBC, not usually raising it. The main tests for inflammation are C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR, "sed rate"). Stress probably has only minor effects on inflammation, and exercise often reduces inflammatory responses. Discuss with your doctor. Good luck.

See below: Esr or sed rate is an acute phase reactant test c/w inflammation, but is clearly nonspecific.  Emotions can be secondary to the underlying disorder causing ESR elevation, but stress does not affect the lab result.  If your neck nodes are enlarged, the sed rate would likely rise due to the underlying cause.

Optic neuritis : Causes include:
ms, syphilis, lyme's disease, herpes zoster, lupus, neurosarcoidosis, inflammatory bowel disease, chloramphenicol, ethambutol, diabetes, and vasculitis. To the extent that stress can contribute to these, it can contribute to optic neuritis.

stress has taken a toll on my body, and have symptoms of low immunity (chronic inflammation issues), at 27 yrs old. plan to improve lifestyle. how can i improve my immune system? regular exercise, healthy eating, sleep? anything else?

Don’t overthink this: In spite of what you see in some media, there is virtually nothing you can do to “improve your immune system”. Don’t smoke, eat a balanced diet, and get some exercise regularly. Unless you have HIV, profound malnutrition, or a rare generic disease, lifestyle has almost no impact on your immune system. Supplement companies and some ‘alternative practiioners’  would love for you to believe otherwise

how long does it take for achilles tendinitis to heal? never had any inflammation...been more than 5 weeks and pain is gone after treatment & change of shoes...still feel a little stress sometimes while walking...will it heal on its own?

: Sounds like tendinosis. For the healing tendon fibers to heal and reorganize, you will need to add eccentric strengthening exercises. A physical therapist or personal trainer can show you how to perform these correctly if you need additional guidance.

erythema noted on colonoscopy. does this always mean ibd? no ulcers or other forms of inflammation noted, just the erythema in the sigmoid region. stressing myself over it, gi didn't seem all that concerned or mention ibd in the talks after operation?

: Its significance depends on the indication of the colonoscopy, especially if you have the symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody and or mucous stool, etc. With that finding, GI doctor can't tell you anything specific. You should patiently wait for the biopsy result. Good luck.

: As suggested earlier, it would be prudent to consult a gastroenterologist as it is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you.

i've heard there are certain foods i should avoid, for inflammation reasons, is this true?  where can i find a complete list?  my white cell count stays right around 18,000.  my doctor has tested for everything and credits it to stress and inflammation so

18000: I find a wbc of 18,000 concerning and would recommend an evaluation by a hematologist.  Foods that cause a spike in blood sugar are thought to provoke inflammatory responses in our bodies. Processed meats, excessive alcohol, transfats, vegetable and seed type oils are felt to produce inflammation also. I am reluctant to attribute your high wbc to any foods.

during a stress test i was told i had inflammation and needed to get an echo. afterwards i had an angiogram and that doctor said my heart was perfectly healthy and the inflammation wasn't the heart itself. should i get an echo prior to my follow up?

Accepted Answer

: Let the cardiologist decide specifically if getting confused with mixed messages. Your symptoms, past and current, current conditions and treatment and current physical exam will be important in the decision as to what it is asked with the test.
