A member asked:

During a stress test i was told i had inflammation and needed to get an echo. afterwards i had an angiogram and that doctor said my heart was perfectly healthy and the inflammation wasn't the heart itself. should i get an echo prior to my follow up?

Let the cardiologist decide specifically if getting confused with mixed messages. Your symptoms, past and current, current conditions and treatment and current physical exam will be important in the decision as to what it is asked with the test.

Not clear whether you actually had an echo. Sounds like your doctors did not understand whether you had a problem. I am not sure why you would need an echo if all the other tests were normal. This is not medicine at its best. Please discuss with your primary doctor before you have more tests.

A maximal treadmill stress test looks for adequate blood flow through the coronary arteries, but I've not heard of it diagnosing inflammation of the heart muscle. An EKG &certain blood tests do. An echocardiogram detects pericardial sac, heart muscle and heart valves status. Since you don't mention what symptoms or signs are present in your case we can't determine whether you should have an echo
