29y/o male with psoriasis. in the past 6 years, always had high uric acid level in blood tests : 8.6 to 8.8 mg/dl. how do i find the reason and cure ?

Cannot: Psoriasis-- like any other auto immune disease has a combination of genetic potential and environmental factors playing the key role in its cause. Sine genes play a big role, cure lies with genes too! Since there is no cure--- management is the key!

i have taken two blood tests on nov 12 and march 13.
my uric acid levels is up from 440 to 502 umol/l
is it ok to take allopurinol? i never had attack

Yes, but why?: If you have never had gout, i would just try to change your diet to decrease your uric acid level.  Every medication can cause side effects.  If there is no reason to start a medication, try to adjust lifestyle to improve your health and avoid starting medications.

i have joint pain recently, foot, left knee, right hip, which is particularly painful and some  water retention. blood tests show high uric acid (8.4)?

Treat uric acid: High uric acid can cause arthritis, gout, with pain, swelling etc.  You need to be evaluated for cause of elevated uric acid, as it can damage other organs as well, e.., kidney.

went to see a gp last week, blood test shows high uric acid.  my gp says it's not gout, but the pain at both my feet won't go away...why is this so?

Gout: Gout can cause pain in your big toe as well as your feet, ankles, knees, hands & wrists (and more). It can also be bilateral. I will refer this question to dr. Namey, to get an expert opinion for you. Take care.

how long could one be fasting for a uric acid blood test? what is the optimal fasting range of time? thank you?

: Your doctor may ask you not to eat or drink anything at least 4 hours before you take the uric acid test. You may also be advised that need you to stop taking any medication during that period, which could hamper the uric acid test results.

: You already have the diagnosis because you have the test results. Gout is the precipitation of uric acid crystals in the synovial chamber in joints, and as you say it is excruciatingly painful. Yes..gout: High levels of uric acid (above 7.5mg/dl) may cause gouty arthritis. Reduce cosumption of foods rich in "purines", the source of uric acid, such as red meats, shrimps, muscles and others. But check first with your dr to understand the cause of your arthritis

what can be the cause for pleural effusion? the doctor diagnosed me and said it was not serious but not what could have caused it. in the blood my s uric acid was 0.42 and the rest of all the tests was normal?

: More information is needed to address your concern. Pleural effusion can be from heart issues, kidney problems,  infection, abdominal issues (liver, pancreas ) , cancer, inflammatory conditions, medications, childbirth. Speak to your doctor
