Yes.: Yes.  It is best that you keep hydrated because you are more likely to get another gout attack when dehydrated.  A diuretic will dehydrate you but you can take gout medicine with it.  

See a podiatrist for a cortisone injection into the joint if you have an acute attack.

Steroids: Why steroids with gout? That shouldn't be. You need to get off those if you have diverticulitis as they can make the attacks worse. See your surgeon and a rheumatologist asap.

See below: If you have not seen a rheumatologist, you may want to consider it.  Swollen feet can be from other causes such as heart failure and kidney disease but it can also be from inflammatory arthritis such as RA and gout.

If you don't feel it: Is gout but your doc does you can definatively confirm by "taping the joint".
You don't say what "gout meds" were given to you....
I would see either a rheumatologist or orthopedist.

Cuboid: There is a small bone called the os peroneum  located adjacent and slightly under the cuboid bone. It is normally positioned inside the peroneus longus muscle tendon. A partial tendon rupture there can cause the os peroneum to fracture since they function together. The cuboid bone can fracture and the avulsion fracture is caused by a ligament. Have the ortho doc check for cuboid pain syndrome.

Gout : You can us a medication for acute gout called colcrys(colchicine). There are medications to help prevent gout attacks called allopurinol.

Gout!: My personal doc is Clinoril (sulindac). It has less GI side effects than the historically used Colchicine (taken until symptoms resolve or GI upset). As a secondary, I am happy using Prednisone for those sensitive to nsaids.

Increase fluids: Most common gout inducing drug is probably hydrochlothiazide (hctz) used to treat blood pressure.As weird as it sounds: increase water intake to prevent gout attack.Hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) lowers bp(in the long term) by reducing sodium in the blood vessel wall-we think!-not by fluid reduction in the vasculature.
