What drug for acute gout?

Gout!: My personal doc is Clinoril (sulindac). It has less GI side effects than the historically used Colchicine (taken until symptoms resolve or GI upset). As a secondary, I am happy using Prednisone for those sensitive to nsaids.

Colchicine: Colchicine is the best systemic drug for acute gout however a steroid injection into the effected joint can give instant relief.

Nonsteroidal/Indocin: The first choice for acute gout these days are non steroidal if there is no contraindication. Most effective is Indocin (indomethacin) and used for 5to7 days and is effective second line choice is colchicin which has been used for centuries but is no longer considered ist line due to unpleasant side effects like diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps and can not be used in many due to age or other conditio.
