2015 i fell from a height & suffered a l4 burst compression fracture,had surgery for fixation rod & 4 screws l4 l5,will pregnancy cause damage  & pain?

No damage: Pregnancy will not cause damage .while many experience low backache in pregnancy many do not, if you do experience pain with pregnancy it is probably going to be tolerable
Other info needed is if the shape of your low back(lordosis) was restored with surgery and your current outcome .a comfortable back with good alignment will probably perform well in pregnancy

i had a bad fall. i went to the hospital for an xray and it shows that i have mild compression fracture body of l5 vertebra. should i be worried? is there a cure for this? thank you?

Accepted Answer

: Depending upon the extent of the compression fracture, a relatively noninvasive vertebroplasty procedure may be indicated.  However, in your case, it might be better to merely allow healing over several weeks.  Would suggest consultation from  a spine surgeon, and a second opinion if surgery is advised.

i am 29/m,  my mri scan says i have a wedge compression fracture at l1 and l3-l4=12mm l4-l5=12mm. rest all 13mm. can i be able to take up sports?

L1 compression: fracture....discuss this with your doctor.  Make sure you know the cause. (trauma, infection, metabolic bone disease-low calcium or vitamin D etc) If you have pain this could limit your activities. You should try to stay active. Swimming might be good.  I'd certainly avoid outdoor ice hockey, ice fishing, bob sledding or other activities that would take you thousands of miles from your doctor !

Let me explain: The traditional treatment for what mention usually nonsurgical.
If the pain is disabling you and can not by nonsurgical means, i believe you consult a spine surgeon or neurosurgeon.

Compression fracture: During the acute occurrence of a compression fracture of a vertebra, it is very common to have abdominal distension as the severe pain often stops normal intestinal peristaltic action leading to gas buildup( paralytic ileus).  However, this shouldn't persist when severe back pain lessens. If abdominal distension, especially with associated discomfort, persists, he should be examined by a physician

You should: evaluate the status of KYPHOPLASTY which was introduced a number of years ago to treat compression fractures!

Compression fracture: A compression fracture of the thoracic (t5) is a sign of osteoporosis.  Bracing can help to heal the bone but a surgical procedure known as a kyphoplasty may be required.  A bone density test can determine the amount of osteoporosis and supplements stronger than calcium to strengthen the bones. See your primary care physician for further guidance..

Old Crush Fracture: Chronic=happened 3-6 months ago. Compression=squished. Long bone Fx is usually like breaking a stick. A spine bone is a cylinder that can be crushed down usually more on one side. It's like sitting on a cardboard box &amp; having it partially collapse. 
AND, they usually heal nicely but are very painful and can take 1-3 months to heal. 
Some docs do kyphoplasty which cements the Fx in 1 hr=0 pain!

Strengthen  extensor: Strengthening the spinal extensors will be the most effective to maintain posture as well preventing collapse; it is always good to strengthen the abdominals also as the trunk works better when the whole circumference of the the cylinder(the vertebrae and all the muscles) are functioning well. Do wait to really push yourself till the pain of the fracture has stsarted to settle.
