What does it mean to have a chronic compression fracture at t8 in back?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Old Crush Fracture: Chronic=happened 3-6 months ago. Compression=squished. Long bone Fx is usually like breaking a stick. A spine bone is a cylinder that can be crushed down usually more on one side. It's like sitting on a cardboard box & having it partially collapse. AND, they usually heal nicely but are very painful and can take 1-3 months to heal. Some docs do kyphoplasty which cements the Fx in 1 hr=0 pain!
