Yes: It can especially if there is a loss of vertebral body height associated the fracture. This can lead to narrowing of the canal that the nerves come out of. While pain from fractures tends to be in the the midline of the back and usually overlying the site it can refer to the sides and even down to the buttocks. Usually it does not travel down the legs unless a nerve is pinched.
