i have shingles on my face and wondering if kissing my wife who has had chickenpox before can catch shingles from me from kissing.

No: Shingles is a reactivation of Herpes Zoster virus which has lain dormant in your own nerve cells.A person w/ shingles cannot 'transmit' shingles to someone else who has already had chicken pox. They can, however, infect someone who has never had chicken pox - but the result will be chicken pox, not shingles. Wash well &amp; take appropriate precautions to protect people who've never had pox or vaccine

Shingles: Shingles comes only in people who once had chicken pox. You can catch chicken pox, usually as a child, if you are exposed to another child whol is sick and never had before, but you can't catch shingles, because it comes only in people who were cured of chicken pox, and often many years later. There is a vaccine for chicken pox, for children, and a vaccine for older people to prevent shingles.

I hope so.: While I hope kissing is contagious in the best sense of spreading affection and love,  it is highly unlikely that you could spread herpes if the infection is not in your mouth and you didn't recently contaminate lips or mouth with secretions from shingles' lesions located elsewhere.

Chicken pox: There is a chance but not because of a kiss but through contact of the fluid from the blisters.  Which you could have on your hands if you held baby.

U.S. kids vaccinated: Chicken pox and shingles are the same zoster virus. If a person has NO good immunity to the zoster virus (never caught chicken pox, is immunosuppressed, never got the vaccine, or got the vaccine but did not make enough antibodies) then she can get a case of chicken pox from the virus in the skin lesions of the shingles. She cannot catch shingles but can later develop it after she gets chicken pox.

Prevent chickenpox: If you have never had chickenpox, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you get the chickenpox vaccine. This is an easy vaccine to take and should protect you from exposures like this. The thing is, you've 'already' been exposed just by being in the same room with your aunt. I would try to see an Infectious Diseases doctor -they are experts with this disease. Do you know if you every had antibody tests?

i have shingles and kissed my gf and she gave me oral sex. she hasnt had chickenpox yet so can i infect her with the virus(blisters on lowerback/abs)?

Possibly: The debris from the shingles sores can give chickenpox to a susceptible person.The shingles patient is not secreting the germ in their saliva, as they would during chickenpox.So if the sores are covered or the material is kept away from susceptible people, transfer will not occur. This is quite different from chickenpox, where airborne droplets  easily spread the disease before the kid breaks out.
