I hope so.: While I hope kissing is contagious in the best sense of spreading affection and love, it is highly unlikely that you could spread herpes if the infection is not in your mouth and you didn't recently contaminate lips or mouth with secretions from shingles' lesions located elsewhere.

Wrong question: Shingles is not contagious. But chicken pox virus is in it. Most people are immune so they cannot catch it. If the person is not immune she can catch chicken pox from contact with shingles. If you take antiviral med such as acyclovir or valacyclovir, you are less contagious but not completely safe.
