Yes: The shingles lesions carry the chickenpox virus. He should keep the area covered and protect you from the lesions. Check your chickenpox immune status. All the best.

Depends: They estimate that over 90% of those adults with no memory of prior cpx have blood evidence they did. If so you are immune. Only the debris from the sores contain the virus, not saliva . If you can stay away from contamination from the sores you can avoid it if vulnerable. It would be a good idea to get the vaccine if you are not immune since cpx can be nasty/fatal in adults.
