A member asked:

I've had positive hrhpv and ascus/lsil in my pap smear before. in recent years, hpv has been negative, but i repeatedly getting reports saying either inadequate sample or absent ec/tz components. i am not pregnant, why can't i get a proper sample?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

With a prior positive "high risk" HPV result, with ASCUS, a colposcopy with directed biopsies may be necessary. Consult with your GYN physician or secure a referral to another GYN physician for a "second opinion".
