New delivery, yes: If the pap smear was done within 8 weeks of a vaginal delivery, a ASCUS pap result may appear due to the cervical cells mixing with the shrinking endometrium(involution) and its' cells. However, an ASCUS pap (atypical cells of undetermined significance) is a description of what was seen by the Pathologist that bears little clinical bearing other than repeating the pap if MD is concerned.
