A member asked:

Can blood work result in a false positive result for lupus anticoagulant factor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. Ronald Krauser answered

No: Positive is positive. However, it is the degree of positivity that is clinically important. Low positive values are generally not clinically important.

Lupus anticoagulant Eval. The ref range is <45sec. Does the result matter if its over 45? For example, is a result of 51 more indicative of an issue than 46? If the LA screen and DRVVT screen is high and confirm is - what factors should be checked?

Lupus Anticoagulant Screen w/ Reflex. Is it normal for the results to change/worsen in 5 months? First time in October the DRVVT confirmation was negative. 5 months later it was positive. Both times had a high DRVVT screen. Why would results change?

Had Lupus Anticoagulant Eval w/reflex done twice in 3 months. 1st DRVVT screen high. 2nd screen high, confirmation positive, mix corrected. What factor deficiency can cause these results? How would you interpret these results-weak LA or factor def?
