A member asked:

Had lupus anticoagulant eval w/reflex done twice in 3 months. 1st drvvt screen high. 2nd screen high, confirmation positive, mix corrected. what factor deficiency can cause these results? how would you interpret these results-weak la or factor def?

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, there is not sufficient information in your message to provide a meaningful response. Wish you good health!

It seems you had positive screening tests for Lupus Anticoagulant which is known to be responsible for acquired arterial or venous thrombosis. Patients with isolated Lupus Anticoagulant are usually not at increased risk for bleeding. Paradoxically, 5-20% of them may develop arterial or venous thrombosis.
