ANSWER: One of the tetracyclic compounds, frequency of side effects is more than ssri's & snris. Important: first does it work for you? If not, a different one probably will. If so, are side effects small and not a big problem: then stick with it. If side effects are tough try another one. Tci's still work. The statistics apply to huge groups - not one person - you.

Desiparamine is an: Older generation medication in the class of tricyclic antisdepressant . It is very useful in the treatment of depression and anxiety . However , the frequent side effect put it as second and third line drug . Most common side effect is sedation , dry mouth , difficulty in urination , dizziness when trying to rise from sitting or lying position . The most serious sideeffect is its effect on the hear.

Not soo scary: You mentioned having reviewed literature about the side effects, ask for desipramine use experience. In my case, i was surprised to see how rarely any of the (often studied and feared) side effects and adv reactions of the class, rarely present in my patients. I did not get to try it in a large amount of patients, so findings may be anecdotical. Ask your dr; best wishes.
