Back pain: Many conditions can cause back pain. In younger patients scoliosis is the most common cause. It can also be due to muscle spasm due to poor posture or improper lifting or twisting. Arthritic conditions and disk disease are more common in older patients but can happen on young adults as well. An x ray of the back would help.

Yes: Back pain could be due to nerve impingement from spinal disc problems or it could be muscular. Only a doctor who evaluates you in person can diagnose you.
