A friend of mine fell several years ago and damaged the nerves in his spine that tell his ankles to straighten. he now has to walk on the outsides of his ankles and is in extreme pain. orthopedic surgeons have said there's no way to fix this. is that true

Second opinion: If he is in severe pain from walking on the outside of his ankles, almost certainly something can be done. Consider a second opinion if you are not getting the help you need.
