Ice: The cold can probably reduce the inflamation and, therefore, some soreness. I hope the coming root canal work or extraction are to be soon.

No...: I see no "convenience" in adding any of these "on the side help" as you are already under antibiotic therapy. If the infection does't go, try a different antibiotic and an anti inflammatory. Most important: treat the infected tooth.
