My wisdom tooth is infected. i was given penicillin. when will the swelling go down? and will the pain go away with it?

Give it some time.: Antibiotics are not pain medications, so you may want to take something like Advil or Alleve to help with the pain. As far as the swelling goes, often the swelling gets worse for the first couple of day after starting antibiotics. By day 5 or so the swelling should be down. Remember, penicillin is only a temporary solution so you may want to see a dentist or oral surgeon to treat this properly.
