It depends: Recurrence of oral cancer after surgery and radiation carries a worse prognosis in terms of a cure. However, depends on the actual site and stage of the cancer, additional surgery and/or chemotherapy can prolong survival. You need to speak to his oncologist and surgeon to get a better picture.

Maybe: Depends on the type of cancer, how aggressive it is/was and where it was located in the oral cavity. Squamous cell cancers have the worst prognosis long term. Hope all goes well for you and your uncle.
