Snap shot : ?Warranty period ? You're kidding right. The MRI is a snapshot of what was happening on the day you had it done. You can have numerous things happen in your life over a couple of years that would change it. A tumor could arise from nothing to the size of a grapefruit in a few months, much less two years. Hope you don't have something bad but get real.

No: The MRI scan is a high quality image of your brain and nerves at that exact moment. It cannot predict what occurred the following day, week, months or years. Your doctor might be recommending another scan if your symptoms have worsened or if your hearing test or other studies have changed.

Warranty? no.: Your brain is not an appliance that comes with a warrranty. Neither is an MRI report. The human body is a living and dynamic organism. The MRI and it's report is a report on what your brain and surrounding structures look like at that point in time. It could potentially be different the next day. Or even the next hour. If symptoms persist or change, then yes- another scan may be indicated.

It depends: On your clinical symptoms, risk factors for other things, physical examination, etc. I love your question regarding 'warranty period'. One of the frustrating things about medicine is that the physiological system of the human body is so complex that things can change on a day by day basis. As i tell my patients, there are no guarantees in medicine - or warranties. Big smile.
