Lap or open?: Recovery from an uncomplicated laparoscopic appendectomy is measured in a couple of weeks to normal activity, whereas for open or complicated (e.g. Ruptured) appendectomy, return may take a couple of months. Avoidance of strenuous weight lifting is usually advised for 10-12 weeks after surgery.
