Learn self-soothing: Some people with "depression" really have bipolar illness: feeling too giddy and high some times and really low/depressed at others. Full bipolar illness usually doesn't show up until your 20s, but read up on it. More likely you need training in self-management techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy. It turns out depression is in part literally thinking yourself into feeling sad & irritable.

Lexapro (escitalopram): Sounds like you may have irritable depression which Lexapro (escitalopram) is helping. Also rule out Lexapro (escitalopram) induced bipolar symptoms.

Advise MD.: Please let your physician know if your are experiencing significant mood changes on Lexapro (escitalopram) as well as effect when you don't take it. If you are aggressive or have mood changes on Lexapro (escitalopram) it might not be the best medication for you.
