No.: Mpv = mean platelet volume, which is often part of a CBC (complete blood count). A CBC measures rbc's, wbc's and platelets, all three lines of cells made in the bone marrow. Mpv is a reflection of the size of the platelet. A high mpv may reflect destruction of platelets. A low mpv usually reflect low platelet count. Typical range is 9.7 to 12.8. An mpv of 11.5 is normal. No problem here.
