Wine 4 heart health: It's probably not ethanol itself that's purportedly beneficial but what it's mixed with. In that case, most studies have demonstrated link to benefit from moderate consumption of red wine (not beer or hard liquor). That's 1 drink/d for women & 2 drinks/d for men. Of course all these studies are observational, not based upon proving cause & effect. So jury's still out in terms of outright proof.
