Avoidance: Stay away from hard food or anything that are chewy and you have to bite down on them. Only you will know what to avoid.

It all depends: Teeth clenching +/or grinding causes cracks & breakage - night guard will help if teeth don't meet together properly it can lead to cracks - fix the bite imbalance with braces or dentistry photo here shows a deep overbite w/ top & lower teeth tight together. Combine that w/ grinding, it's trouble other habits like chewing pencils or some hard objects can lead to cracks - stop habit.
