In many cases meds: May be necessary to help correct chemical imbalances. However there are also many individuals who are able to work through depression & anxiety without the use of psychotropic medications. Research shows that: Psychotherapy is just as effective as medication for most depression and anxiety. Skills learned in therapy last longer than medication and don't have side effects. Although some people find medication helpful, research has not found that depression results from a chemical imbalance any more than a headache results from an Aspirin deficiency. Medication alone does not resolve depression.
