Frequently: With braces it is important to brush often, several times a day and floss. Use a soft toothbrush and take your time brushing. Follow the instructions that your orthodontist or dentist gave you. Use superfloss, soft pics, or the tools that your orthodontist gave you.

Several things to do: First, it's also important what you eat (and what you shouldn't). Avoid as much as possible sticky starchy foods that are high in sugar. Pretzels, potato chips, cookies are also some things to avoid. When you can't brush, at least rinse out thoroughly. When you are home, not only brush but many find using a waterpik helpful in keeping food debris off your teeth and in and around your braces.
