A diet of carbohydrates, sugar, sticky foods that get between your teeth and acidic liquids can all cause destruction of the enamel of your teeth leading to cavities. Along with poor oral hygiene by brushing only once a day and a poor diet will lead to cavities and gum disease and pain. Failure to maintain proper oral hygiene while undergoing Orthodontic treatment will result in permanent damage to teeth, gums, supporting bone. Brushing only 1x/day combined with failure to clean between teeth daily is totally inadequate. See both your Dentist and your Orthodontist for a comprehensive oral hygiene program. simply put, you are failing at taking care of yourself.
