Guidelines 2011: Sleep apnea is by far most common reason, 7 streps in 1 year, 5 streps per year in 2 years, 3 streps per year in 3 years, chronic tonsillitis/sore throat, concern for mass. These are respected and insurance goes by them. http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/news/20110102/new-guidelines-on-when-kids-need-tonsillectomies http://www.Entnet.Org/healthinformation/upload/cpg-tonsillectomyinchildren.Pdf.
