How common is it to bleed out after laser tonsillectomy? i've heard of a child dying after this procedure from the laser rupturing artery?

Rare: Death is exceedingly rare. Bleeding can occur between 1-3% depending on the center and the type of tonsillectomy done. The risk of bleeding needs to be weighed against the need for the procedure. ENT doctors consider this when recommending removal of the tonsils
