Weight loss: It takes ~3500cal burned in excess of intake to lose a pound. If you burn 500 a day more than you intake you can lose a pound a week, or 40 weeks to 40lb. To do 3lb a week you'd have to burn 1500cal a day more than you ingest. That would be very difficult. Doing 40lb in the summer likely is wishful.
