Sure, but...: Those no carb diets all work by the same mechanism every diet on earth works by: less calories in. The key is that if you eat enough calories to gain weight but do it from fats and protein alone, it'll make you sick, so most people end up eating substantially less. Try it and see (myfitnesspal is a great app for this). Every 3500 cal missed (or so), another pound will fall off.

Few, mostly good ∆es: though some people have problems with constipation during 1st month, if they rapidly convert. Including lots of healthy saturated fats of natural origin (eg. butter, high fat meats, coconut, palm, olive oils) typically prevents this complication & adds additional benefits: ↓.appetite, ↓ triglycerides, improved lipoproteins (LDL↓ & Large-HDL↑). Low Carb: In addition to the excellent info you already received, I would mention that low carb will put your body into ketosis. Ketosis is a state where our body uses fat for fuel rather than sugar, thus it it fat-burning. This can help reduce sugar craving and lower weight. Do this under guidance from your doc.
