Diet: Exercise helps in many ways but unless you eat less calories than you burn, weight loss is impossible. The good news is that there are many sources to identify calories burned by age/sex/weight and calories in every type of food. Much of the food we eat today is calorie dense - tons of calories in what looks like a small amount of food. Note: surgery for morbid obesity targets calories absorbed.

Beyond Diet/Exercise: What are other reasons for obesity, beyond carrying susceptible genes, eating nutrient depleted food and not exercising enough? there's more to the picture. even if you're doing all these things "right" you can still struggle with your weight. http://www.getrealforkids.com/resources/real-health/obesity/2496-about-obesity.
