A member asked:

After doing many hours of yard work, i noticed my right ankle is painful and swollen. it's been 5 days, could it just be a bad sprain?

See below: It could be. However you could have torn a ligament or it could something such as gout. You would best be served by seeing your primary to have this evaluated.

Have it evaluated: Heel pain could be due to different reasons, of which may include: trauma (fracture, tendon or ligamentous tear, arthritis), infection, metabolic conditions (gout) musculoskeletal or biomechanical abnormality, or neurologic conditions (neuropathy). A thorough history and physical exam and possibly laboratory and radiology exams could determine the cause. If symptoms persist get it evaluated.
