A member asked:

So i twisted my ankle badly 3 weeks ago. it hurt for a day, but the pain subsided pretty quick. i can walk and stand on it with no pain at all. however, it's still swollen and certain (rare) positions are painful. is it sprained?

It is possible that the ankle is sprained. A sprain occurs when the ligaments that connect bones to one another are stretched or torn. The fact that the ankle is still swollen and painful in certain positions three weeks after the injury suggests that it may be more than a minor sprain. It is recommended to seek medical attention to properly diagnose and treat the injury.
