Varied..: Individuals with adhd are at higher risk for a variety of mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Individuals with bipolar mood disorders and aspergers syndrome are also likely to meet criteria for adhd. These latter disorders are not caused by adhd but just associated with it. Seeking treatment for the adhd is the best protection against secondary mental illness.

A wide array: In kids, adhd is the sole disorder only about 1/3 of the time. They are at increased risk for anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, depression, learning disabilities, speech and language disorders, and motor and vocal tics, among other conditions, older individuals are at risk for substance abuse & conduct disorder. The more diagnoses one has the harder it can be to find effective treatment.
