Not an exact science: Experts often see different issues at the time they assess a case and the person might act differently too. It's not exactly 'missing' it - there's almost never a lab test or image to look at. It's more like interpretation of a story or film or painting for meaning. It's an art and a science mixed together and very challenging. Don;t worry - treatment won't be too different probably. Okay?

Cant say for sure: But did you ever get tested and take a battery of psychological and neuropsychological tests? Might have helped in hindsight.

Borderline: Personality disorder or Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder [EUPD] can sometimes cloud the picture greatly. Often time the dramatic behavior and reactivity seen with borderline personality disorder overshadows other diagnoses. How good a historian the patient is can also make a difference. Many times complex diagnoses are discovered in layers.
