Great question: And a question that should be directed to the periodontist before making an appointment. Doctors have some commonality but all are different with different training and skills. Since you just left your current periodontist you have some idea of what to expect. If you loved your old periodontist then new one will have to wow you to get the same feeling from you. Ask for a tour and meet & greet.

Check list: It should include: pocket measurements, checking for tooth mobility, presence of pus, recording bleeding on probing, recording recession and general appearance of gum tissue, and other dental issues that may affect the success of treatment, such as, faultly fillings or ill fitting crowns., checking for furcation involverments(bone loss between or around multirooted teeth.).
