All things equal what determines how long an slt treatment will control eye pressure adequately in glaucoma?

Varies: Depends on amount of iop lowering needed, and amount achieved. It is not uncommon for a retreatment to be needed in 2-4 years. Age of patint and degree of damage also plays a role.

Variable: There are many variables. First of all, patients with darker skin usually do better with slt than caucasians. Secondly, retreatments tend to have less affect and last for shorter amounts of time. The average is around 2 years.
