Highly variable: Typically the drops will be more effective than slt. Slt is usually but not always used as a treatment when drops stop working as well.

Efficacy varies: Both slt & topical antiglaucoma medications are acceptable treatments for glaucoma. Medications generally have longer efficacious treatment (many years), whereas slt has fading effect over a few years. The laser may be repeated if initial success is determined. I generally treat medically and add slt as adjunctive therapy when needed. Remember the goal is to reduce iop to an acceptable level.
