Give it time: It takes a few weeks for your gums to "tighten up". If that amount of time has passed, then you might need further treatment. Discuss your concerns with your dentist.

Treat the cause: Treat the cause, not symptom. Diagnosis of gum disease must identified the cause. These causes must be treated. Scale and polish only the first step of treatment. Occlusal factors must be address. Follow up with selective scaling and root planning must occur. Host reaction must be explored. These are the reasons why the treatment is termed "periodontal therapy", not just a procedure.

Takes time: Healing takes some time. Make sure you are following the home care program your dentist and hygienist gave you. This is very important in the healing process now and the long term maintenance program. Remember scaling is not a one time fix, it is a long term process of health. Keep up with it.
