Evaluation: Schedule and appointment for a consultation with a dentist that specializes in the treatment of TMJ issues or with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. A custom occlusal appliance can be fabricated for you, such as an nti -tss (nociceptive trigeminal inhibition tension suppression system). This will reduce your ability to clench, reduce the force at which you clench, and provide relief.

Seek a consult with: Your dentist or a dentist that treats tmd for an evaluation. If initial exam finds a diagnosis related to tmd issues, a split/mouthguard is a typical first step. Other treatment will need to be considered if the diagnosis warrants. Good luck!

Consultation: Do not try and fix your problem/problems on your own by looking into an otc mouthpiece for grinding/clenching. You should see a dentist or tmj/tmd specialist to evaluate your symptoms and treat the problems.

Depends: What you can do depends upon your symptoms and diagnosis. Tmd is a group of conditions related to the jaw joint. It could be a joint problem, muscle problem, or ligament problem. Each condition can benefit from different treatment. You can try some over the counter medications, heat, or cold. Otherwise, you should see a dentist trained in diagnosing and treating tmd for more appropriate tx.
