Jaw: Think of it as TMD which means a range of disorders including problems with the joint. Try warm compresses, soft diet and ibuprofen for a few days but you will probably have to see your dentist

Muscle relaxants, especially for people who grind or clench their teeth, can help relax tight jaw muscles. Undergo corrective dental treatments, including replacing missing teeth and using crowns, bridges, or braces to balance the biting surfaces of your teeth or to correct a bite problem. This will provide a long term solution or even resolution.

Probably: The pop you heard was probably the articular disk in the jaw joint popping out of position. Please see you Dentist for Rx to recapture the disc.

Probably: Sounds like TMJ. The disk sounds like it is displaced. See a TMJ expert for advice.
