As Dental and Medical Students learn about various disease processes, they tend to want to diagnose themselves. This is an important part of learning, but not very practical when it comes to treatment. Continue seeing your regular dentist who has years of experience treating patients and have them address your concerns.

I suspect you have the equivalent of what I call medical student syndrome but it is dental student syndrome. Every new disease you learn about you start checking to see if you might have that one. Discus. With your professors.

Please know we have 400 letters allowed to answer each question. Besides clinical, your question is also an academic one, which requires more than 400 letters. Not observing Christensen phenomenon in your mouth plus having pain in the TMJ can be evaluated by either neuromuscluarly or studying your Centric Relation (CR). Most schools teach CR but not NM, and not all teachers have studied both.
