Complicated: Medicine trial before surgery and detailed discussion with GI doc and the surgeon will be right approach. Ask the surgeon how many such surgeries he/she has performed.

Yes: It will cure gerd but for how long depends. Pros is not needing to take those pills anymore and suffering from debilitating reflux. Cons it is an operation and carries its risks.
