Its the smoke: Smoking anything causes GERD to worsen. The irritating chemicals, the heat and the toxins found in smoke can irritate the lining of the esophagus and cause the esophageal sphincters to spasm leading to reflux. Surprisingly, marijuana edibles do not worsen GERD. Remember that marijuana edibles are stronger and take longer to initiate a reaction- don't take to much.
